How do I get the right shoe size?

While it is best to have your child professionally fitted in-store, we know that this is not always possible.

You can call our shop during opening hours for advice on any of the styles featured on our site, and our professional fitters will be happy to assist you in your buying choices.

Alternatively, you can use the printable guide below.

Please be aware that this is only a guide, and sizes differ between styles and manufacturers.

Most of our shoes use European sizing.

Check your child's foot size on the chart and leave a gap of one thumb from the top of the big toe to what would be the top of the shoe, and this is the approximate size they would take if one foot is larger, fit to the larger foot.

If between sizes, order the larger size.

Is it Ok to Buy Children's Shoes Online?

It is perfectly ok to buy children's shoes online. However, it is probably best to stick with a brand that you know, and ideally, you should know your child's current size.

Make sure that you follow our fitting tips when you receive your shoes.  If you are unsure about sizes or styles, please call or message us, and our staff will be happy to assist you.

What Should We Look for When Buying the First Pair of Shoes?

A good quality first shoe should be lightweight, supple, and have a flexible non-slip sole.

They should be soft and comfortable and preferably made of leather.  They should offer good heel and arch support.

How do I know if the shoe fits right?

When you receive, the shoes have your child try them on indoors, preferably on a carpeted surface.  Ensure that child wears a clean sock.

Shoes should be comfortable from day one, and there should be no need to "break them in." Little toes need space to move.

There should be at least a thumbs width/half an inch between the top of the big toe and the top of the shoe.

Make sure your child is walking naturally in the shoe and check that the shoe fits snugly around the heel.

How often will I need to buy my child new shoes?

From age 1-3 years, children's feet grow an average of 2-3 sizes per year, and after that, they grow 1-2 sizes per year until growth is complete.

How do I care for leather shoes?

Proper care and maintenance of leather shoes will help to ensure their longevity in wear. We would recommend that you follow the guidelines below:

Leather uppers require regular treatment with a good-quality wax polish to protect the leather and give a high shine finish. This should help to prolong the life of the uppers and maintain their appearance.

The shoes should be dry before application.

Try to avoid using unsuitable liquid polish applicators on high-quality leather uppers, as these can potentially damage the surface of the leather and often create a lacquer that is hard to remove.

How do I care for suede/nubuck shoes?

Most dirt can be brushed away using a suede brush.   If your suede/nubuck shoes get wet, allow them to dry naturally and buff with a suede brush.

If there are deeper stains, you may need to use a suede eraser or suede care cream.  Follow manufacturer's instructions.
